PCs: Prentice plan will deliver results for Albertans both today and in the future

Progressive Conservative leader Jim Prentice outlined both the immediate and long-term actions that make up his plan to secure Alberta’s financial future.

“To get our house in order, there needs to be a plan – a realistic one with results that Albertans will see both today and tomorrow,” Prentice said. “Our party has that plan and it will get us back to a balanced budget within three years, even if oil prices don’t come back. We will plan ahead for the next ten years, while maintaining Alberta’s low-tax advantage to create jobs and growth.”

Prentice added that his plan would continue to build much-needed infrastructure, which not only spurs economic activity and creates jobs, but also meets the needs of a growing province.

“Our plan keeps building the infrastructure that supports health care, education and transportation – new roads, new hospitals, more affordable seniors accommodation, and more than 200 new or modernized schools where they’re needed most,” Prentice said. “At the same time, our plan eliminates waste and duplication, cuts back on spending and red tape, and makes government more efficient.”

Prentice focused on the needs of seniors, pointing out that the number of seniors in Alberta is expected to double within the next 20 years.

“Our plan will create more safe and affordable seniors housing, more continuing care beds and supportive living spaces, and more home care so people can stay at home in their communities longer,” said Prentice. “Those who helped build this province must live in comfort, care and dignity, and we have a realistic plan to make sure they do.”
