On March 18, 2011, I hosted Minister Mel Knight at a Community Information Meeting to discuss the Alberta Land Stewardship Act (Bill 36), the Land Assembly Project Act (Bill 19) and the Electrical Utilities Act (Bill 50). At the meeting, Minister Knight referred to a regional plan for southern Alberta that would be released sometime in the future. The South Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council (RAC) has now released the plan and recommends that it should focus on water supply, economic development and conservation needs.

The first month of 2011 has already passed, and I had the privilege of spending most of it in the constituency and meeting with constituents.
During the month, I attended the Grand Opening of the Stirling Lions Community Centre, the Taber and District Chamber of Commerce Dinner and Awards Night, the Foothills Little Bow Municipal Association AGM, the Wild Rose Agricultural Producers AGM as well as the Warner West Water Co-op AGM.
I also had the privilege to present a Community Facility Enhancement Grant on behalf of the provincial government to the Grassy Lake Recreation Board for the construction for playground development at their NorthsideCommunity Park. Â

Winter is upon us and we have just enjoyed the Christmas season. I hope everyone had an opportunity to celebrate Christmas with family and friends and are looking forward to a healthy and prosperous 2011. We also remember those who were not able to be with family during this time - especially our military families. I want to thank all of those men and women in the Canadian Forces who serve our great country as well as all of those individuals who serve in all three levels of government.

Last month, thousands of Albertans went to the polls to choose their municipal council representatives. Many contests were tightly fought and this year’s municipal elections can certainly be considered the most exciting in recent years.
