As summer draws to a close and students prepare for another successful year, our thoughts turn to fall and the harvest season.  After already enjoying the Cardston Parade and the World Miniature Chuck Wagon Racing Championship Races at the Remington Carriage Centre in Cardston, I’m looking forward to ending August celebrating and talking with constituents at the Taber Cornfest.

Summer is flying by and this month I enjoyed the peak of parade season in Raymond, Stirling, Taber, Magrath and Milk River. I also attended the Silver Anniversary of the Great Canadian Barn Dance in Hill Spring, participated in the Celebrity Cutting Horse Competition at the Magrath Agri-Dome, attended the dedication of the Alston Scout Park in Magrath, and spoke at a public meeting in the Village of Warner. These were all great opportunities to mingle and hear from constituents.

On May 2nd Canadians elected a stable majority Conservative government and Parliament was called back into session on June 2nd with the Speech from the Throne. The Speech outlined the plans of our Conservative government to continue to support Canada’s next steps in our economic recovery, as outlined in the 2011 Budget. This 2011 Budget was, for the most part, the same budget we presented prior to the election and was part of our Election Platform.

With the end of June, comes the end of the school year.  I had the privilege of attending the graduation ceremonies at Cardston High School, Stirling School and the University of Lethbridge. Congratulations to all 2011 graduates!
