The majority of Canadians who even bothered to watch the news over the weekend had to have been disgusted by the senseless chaos surrounding the G8 and G20 summits in Toronto.
While a number of protesters were assembled to conduct peaceful demonstrations, a group of so-called protesters were determined to use the opportunity to launch acts of senseless violence and vandalism. Anyone with any common sense could quickly see those who created the chaos were not really protesters at all.

Many communities throughout Alberta and other parts of the country use photo radar.
It appears the devices, often denounced as a simple cash cow, are now coming to Taber, after negotiations wrap up for use of the machines.
There are certainly bound to be locals in disagreement with the arrival of photo radar, and if the photo radar is used irresponsibly as a money grab, those protests will have proved correct.

Any time you can add a recreational facility to your community, it is going to enhance the lives of many.
Such is the case for the proposed off-leash dog park.
The idea is certainly still in its infancy, and is likely at least a few years away.

Hopefully, this is the year the coaching carousel finally comes to an end for the W.R. Myers Rebels high school football team.
Matt Williams will be the sixth different coach the program has had since the run of Greg Saunders ended after a string of provincial championships. Saunders, himself, was part of the wheel of coaches, as his second stint with the team ended after he decided to move his family to Utah.

2010 municipal election on the horizon PDF Print E-mail

In less than five months, local residents will be heading to the polls to cast their votes in the 2010 municipal election.
At least it would be the hope that local municipalities will see some kind of election.
While it might be an easier process to elect councillors by acclamation, not to mention a less-costly route, it kind of flies in the face of democracy.
