EDITOR; Being a member of this community, I recently attended a trial where the accused had pleaded guilty to a charge of voyeurism. This charge had been laid by a local teenager and her mother. Throughout the proceedings, the prosecutor outlined to the court the incident that occurred and further requested the victim’s impact statements be a matter of record for the proceedings. The judge left chambers and reviewed the victim’s impact statement and upon return, duly noted they would be part of the court’s records.

EDITOR; It seems The Times reporters are looking for news articles and are willing to create friction between two sporting groups whom in the past have worked very hard alongside each other to develop playing facilities in order to advance their sports. I had a pretty good laugh about both the June 9 and June 16 articles that made mention to Taber and District Soccer Association’s plans. EDITOR; It is great to see that volunteers are appreciated. I attended the volunteer appreciation supper put on by Marilyn with the Literacy group and Tania the Regional Sustainability co-ordinator on Tuesday, May 11, and have to say thank you, it was a great evening. For me, the second part of the evening which included discussions of the problems facing all the groups in Taber that rely on volunteers and some possible solutions was very important. There was one strategic plan put forward that I totally feel is worthwhile pursuing.

EDITOR; I receive and read cover to cover every issue of Westworld that AMA sends me. Imagine my surprise to read an article about community garage sales, and how popular they are. When the Taber and District Chamber of Commerce was approached with this very same idea, it was turned down because a few of the downtown businesses were not in favour of having main street blocked off for a Saturday afternoon. These businesses felt their customers would not have anywhere to park while they shopped.
