It is that time again that we at the Taber Food Bank reach out to Taber and the municipal district to help out with our annual food drive. We hope to reach a goal of 15,000 pounds of food product. As we enter in to the Christmas season we understand that many people cannot make it on what they earn due to the cost of living.

On behalf of Alberta Health Services (AHS) we would like to provide some additional information to reassure the citizens of Taber, Vauxhall and area that when they need assistance in an emergency, they will continue to receive high quality care.

The decision of the Alberta Utilities Commission handed down last week, is a clear, incontestable statement that senior officers of the town acted in violation of Utility Bylaw 2010. This issue is settled.

All in all it doesn’t really matter, sign the contract or don’t sign the contract, either way all control is in the hands of AHS. In your personal life would you sign a contract to provide a service that is so one-sided that whoever you are providing the service for tells you when and how you will do it, with no input from you as to what might make it better, or improve that service? But if you don’t sign the contract you have no control over it either. The difference is you sign it and if it costs more than anticipated you are on the hook for the difference.

Editor: A thanks and a request is in order. Thank you to the Town Public Works for recently filling the potholes and cracks in the roads with pavement. Keeping our streets smooth and safe for driving is a never-ending chore. Replacement and repair of our driving surfaces is an expensive but necessary job.
