Recently on the national news much publicity was given to a paining of our prime minister in the buff.
Although this was done as a joke by the artist because she disagreed with some of his policies and it seems to be acceptable.

I express my thanks to Garrett for the outstanding work that he did at the Taber Times.
Although he will be greatly missed, I feel that the many other capable and conscientious people at the Times will continue with the heritage of honest and respectful reporting that has been the legacy of our newspaper for the past several decades. Garrett has especially been one of our top promoters for the construction of the Centre Court for the Performing Arts. We hope that emphasis will continue under new editorship.

Horizon tweaks budget to adjust for shortfall PDF Print

Horizon’s board of trustees approved a balanced budget for the 2012-2013 school year last week, despite provincial cuts to funding areas which required some tweaking.
Total expenses for the division for 2012-2013 ring in at $42,561,233, an increase of $1,308,561 over the 2011-2012 budget. This includes $1,965,125 for ecs/preschool, $30,568,613 for grade 1-12 instruction, $4,711,342 in the area of infrastructure, and $3,538,422 for transportation.
Board and system administration was allotted $1,730,935, and system instructional support $21,948.

Times earns top finishes in provincial competition PDF Print

Three weekly newspapers in the Southern Alberta Newspaper Group placed high in various categories of competition at the annual Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association (AWNA) General Excellence Awards this month.
The Taber Times took first place for best front page and best sports page  for papers in Class C, with a circulation between 2,000-3,499.
It beat out 11 other  papers for the honour, and took second place with a total of 698.6 points in the judging scale. The first-place paper, the Bonnyville Nouvelle, had 728.3 points.
