EDITOR; Library asking for $2,000 less from town for 2010 is the heading of an article written by Garrett Simmons. Does the writer Garrett Simmons realize that is slightly less than two per cent of the total budget of our local library? You started your article by telling us that everything seems to be going up, for example taxes, prices at the pump and rent. However, are you aware that our membership fees are going up by over 40 per cent from $7 to $10 a year? You do not need to be mathematician to see that there is an enormous discrepancy in the thinking, of the chairperson of our local library and the writer of the article. The property owners in Taber must be delighted with the cost saving at our local library. I for one am looking forward to my 50-cent reduction in property taxes. DICK ALTING Taber |
