EDITOR;
The Conservative party is sending flyers around saying how they are getting tough on crime. It may seem your spiel about getting tough on criminals is good work. From where I sit, this is not exactly the whole truth.
You say you’re cracking down on white-collar criminals  — that’s good. Please explain to me why only a few weeks ago I read the most violent rapist this country has even seen, who was declared a dangerous offender was released from prison, knowing he will offend again. And he is out why? Just asking.
The judge said he is a free man, and can do whatever he wishes. He can even drink booze. How nice for him. I was of the opinion if someone was declared that dangerous, he would never get out of prison — go figure.
Not only are victims hurt by the criminals, they get victimized again by the system. Pedophiles get a slap on the wrist, and the child is destroyed forever.
White-collar criminals prey on people’s greed. These people already have lots of money but want more. It is still a crime, no doubt. People should know by now if it sounds too good to be true, it is. People are warned all the time about these scams. I know I would never give my money to a fast-talking sleaze bag. Wake up people.
As for you your get-tough-on-drug-dealers talk, why are they out on bail? So, what you’re saying is you are cracking down on non-violent criminals? What about drunk drivers? Most of them have been charged a few times for this offence. People die because of this crime.
White-collar criminals get 150 years in prison because of people’s greed. Don’t get me wrong, it is a crime. Please tell me why pedophiles are out of prison in three months or so, when everyone knows they will offend again? You put them in neighbourhoods so they can hurt our children.
But last but not least, a person who murders someone in this country gets life. That’s a joke — I thought life was until you died, not 25 years. The person they murdered is dead forever. Criminals have rights  — victims have none, until I see a complete reversal of this insanity in our laws. This is a joke on the Canadian people. Never will you get my vote.
