EDITOR;
During a recent conversation with the park manager at the M.D. of Taber Park, it was brought to my attention that lately the park has lost three significant resident animals, those being two foxes, and a porcupine.
This doesn't include any other wildlife that have been lost due to people's neglect to slow down when coming down the hill into the park, as well as in the park itself.
Why is this such an issue for some? Is there no compassion for our wildlife and the people who enjoy our beautiful park? Why do some have to suffer because of the carelessness of others?
It's hard to find these animals so close to humans as is, and because some people choose to be thoughtless, these animals and others suffer.
Our wildlife should be allowed to roam in freedom. The park manager has done a wonderful job of taking care of the park and the wildlife.
He has done a lot to try to prevent this issue, but it still seems to be happening way too much. I think maybe it's up to the people who enjoy the park to take some responsibility as well.
Read and obey the signs posted. They are there for a reason. Think and slow down!
Slow down on a curve, and when reaching the crest of a hill. Scan the road and ditches ahead for animals, especially when traveling at dawn or dusk.
This really is not a difficult precaution to take when the very lives of our  wildlife is at stake — today a fox, tomorrow a child. All life is precious.
Have some respect.
