There will be no trade fair here in Taber on the May 24 weekend.
The cancellation came after the announcement by the Taber Pro Rodeo committee that the pro rodeo had been called off.
Gloria Ilczynski, chairperson for the trade fair committee, said the decision was made to call off the event for 2008 for a variety of reasons.

The provincial government's commitment of $468 million to support key recommendations previously made by the Crime Reduction and Safe Communities Task Force will mean an additional officer for the Taber Police Service (TPS).
Naturally, the TPS welcomes the announcement but is facing a time crunch to hire its new officer, as the first day of classes at the Centre for Advancement in Criminal Justice at Lethbridge College is May 5, with the registration deadline this Friday.

Good things come to those who wait. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Aquafun Centre, pool users will have to wait a little longer.
Closed since Jan. 7 for nearly $1.9 million dollars in upgrades, the Aquafun Centre was originally scheduled to open May 5. However, the opening date has tentatively been pushed back to May 12.
