It takes a brave person to speak up when something in their community is not right.
According to the dictionary bravery is defined as showing courage and courage is defined as the quality that allows one to face danger or adversity with confidence. It takes someone with true courage to speak up when they know they could face consequences not of their making.

As it stands, Canadians are certainly not forced to recycle but then again, charging a deposit fee for our recyclables is a incentive no matter how small.
For the average Albertan, the nickel on the dollar spent for a bottle of pop or water or other beverage is not an overwhelming incentive to get everyone to return their recyclables but it does act as a reminder for some and a true incentive for those who do not want the government to have even a nickel more than they should.

It is quite fitting that both Education Week and Volunteer Appreciation Week fall on the same week.
Volunteering is certainly a learning experience. Anyone who volunteers their time to a cause, a program or a project knows first hand how much they learn in the process. Volunteers understand that the commitment to a worthwhile project benefits them ten-fold.
