Chamber award winners deserve praise PDF Print E-mail

People often complain others mention their short falls too often and they are not recognized enough for their positive contributions. Thanks to the Taber and District Chamber of Commerce in Taber, people receive adequate accolades for what they do and this year even more people have been added to the list of those receiving annual Chamber awards.

Every year the organization has acknowledged the Citizen of the Year and Small Business of the Year with an award. For the first time this year the Chamber is giving out an Excellence in Customer Service Award and a Spirit of Taber Award.
Since small businesses show extreme dedication and do a great job of competing in the today's competitive business world, they deserve to be recognized.
The person who receives the title of Citizen of the Year, always contributes to the community in several ways, so why not have several people applaud them on their achievements. With our busy everyday lifestyles it can be easy to sit on the side lines and let others sit in the driver's seat. Therefore, people who take the bull by the horns and make time for volunteering to make their communities a better place, should be awarded.
People love living by the motto 'The Customer is Always Right' and are quick to complain when service does not meet their expectations. When service surpasses our expectations, we should be just as quick to show our appreciation.
A business that offers excellence in customer service does not cut any corners and makes sure all of its bases are covered, which takes dedication and team work. Businesses in town that put customers first and make it so people are eager to walk through their doors for the friendly atmosphere, should receive our gratification.
Many individuals, groups and businesses keep the spirit of Taber alive and growing. They do what it takes to create awareness and increase how much spirit there is in their communities. Without a thriving spirit, a community has nothing.
Perhaps the Chamber should start a new tradition of adding a couple of different awards to its awards list annually. Most people who are awarded with the annual awards presented, state they were surprised to learn they had won because there are so many worthy contributers in town.
Maybe we need to take a look at how we can make sure all these worthy people receive their well-earned accolades. If the Chamber can not add a couple new awards yearly, there are definetly other options.
We can each do our part by remembering to say what were two of the first words in our vocabulary as toddlers - thank you. Whether we are at work, with out family and friends or taking in a local event, we need to make sure those deserving of credit receive it.
