With some events, enthusiasm tends to dip as the years pass by.

For the 2008 APEX Youth Awards however, the current installment will feature the largest group of nominees in the event's history.
Twenty-eight individuals, plus one group, will be recognized tomorrow night inside the Taber Community Centre auditorium for the seventh year for the APEX Youth Awards.
"As a committee, we are extremely impressed with how the community has stepped up to support the awards this year," said Coleen Campbell, chairperson of the APEX Youth Awards Committee. "It's just great to see there are so many young people out there that people see are worthy of being recognized."
The nominees include 21 young people from the Taber area, four from Vauxhall, two from Enchant and one from Hays. The Taber Youth4Youth group makes up the 29th nominee.
Taber nominees include Jamie Barrows, Hillary Bennett, Larissa Cyr, Kayl Davies, Brett Forchuk, Quinnten Francis, Jessica Hamilton, Sara Kadoyama, Kristy Kaga, Tory Kallio, Beverly Kane, Aleesha Koersen, Trudy Lekeman, Amber Litzenberger, Matthew Meier, Katrina Miyanaga, Ben Noble, Brandon O'Brien, Kristen Oudmen, Brenna Toth and Vinnie Lee Young.
Ashley McLaughlin, Jason Mill, Kara Unruh and Matthew Vanden Dungen will represent Vauxhall, while Karalee Frostad and Hailee Virostek are the nominees from Enchant. The nominee from Hays is Ty Thorson.
"We really have good representation throughout the entire M.D.," said Campbell. "That's really what we like to see every year because no matter how big or small your hometown is, you can still make a big difference in the lives of others."
Tomorrow night, all of the nominees, along with friends, family and invited guests, will fill the community centre for a short reception, which begins at 6 p.m. Supper is set to start soon after at 6:30 p.m.
Every nominee will then be introduced, and awarded with a certificate, along with other items, following supper. Guest speaker Martin deVlieger will then speak, just before eight of the nominees are selected for additional honours. Four young people will take home $1,500 bursaries, sponsored by local businesses, while four more will be selected by the Rotary Club of Taber to attend a leadership camp in Calgary later this spring.
