First Student thankful for community help

Posted on June 20, 2018 by Taber Times

First Student Taber, which includes school bus drivers, office staff, and shop mechanics, would like to say a heart-felt thank you to our community.

We are grateful for all the help everyone has given us, in helping get the students safely to and from school this past winter and spring. It was a long, cold winter and spring. At times we were faced with challenges that were beyond our capabilities to overcome on our own.

From fog, snow, wind, rain, dust, mud, flooding water, washed-out roads, and many other obstacles we faced on a daily basis, the community’s help, your help, in anyway, was greatly appreciated.

Our cheerful, kind, farm Dads and Grandpas pulled many of us when we were stuck in anything from snow, mud, or water, with huge ruts underneath.

Families were willing to meet in at different locations when the buses couldn’t go down lots of the roads. The M.D. of Taber, the Town of Taber and Volker Stevin were assisting daily, sometimes 24/7, to keeps roads in as good of shape as possible. When we couldn’t go down them, they let us know in a responsible, professional manner.

The M.D. of Taber is still working hard to get roads back in shape where they were completely washed out and impassable. Exhausted and over worked, they still were wonderful team players and great to work with. They cared about each one of our students, and helped make sure they were warm and safe traveling to and from school.

It has been a long, hard, and cold winter and a quick, wet spring, filled with more challenges than usual. But, as we worked together, everyone was safe with memories we won’t soon forget. We especially will not forget the kindness that each of you gave us as we continued to drive safely on the roads. We want to express a heartful thanks to all.
