Reader finds indigenous reporting sensationalized

Posted on June 12, 2019 by Taber Times

I reacted with considerable shock to a Sunday Night CTV News story referring to the MMIWG final report as being a “Canadian Genocide.”

I do not recall witnessing Canadian Law Enforcement authorities actively rounding up indigenous females for incarceration/execution in the fashion of Nazi Germany like World War II.

While there is reason for legitimate concern for the welfare of indigenous females, these headlines are screaming of sensationalism.

How many of these girls and women are being driven to leave their reserves due to the unwanted attention of uncles etc.
And why should an attractive teenage girl of 16 be found on the streets of Winnipeg at 3 a.m.?

I submit the federal government would be better advised to spend $92 million dollars on educational programs on the reserves, directed to respect of individual rights.
