A new and unique medical phenomenon could be on the horizon for Canadians. Post-Winter Olympic Blues could quickly settle over the country that has been bathed in red and white for the past two weeks. Even the most diehard anti-sports fans could not help getting caught up in the excitement of the Games and what they came to mean to our country.

People must be starting to think no one on the face of the earth knows anything about when Taber’s designated Good Samaritan Society assisted living (DAL) complex will actually open. Much before the facility, obviously, construction must begin again. Months upon months upon months, no activity has been observed at the building site in Taber’s northwest corner.

It did not take long this time around for a Canadian athlete to end an embarrassing drought for our country. In two separate Olympic Winter Games events, Montreal in 1976 and Calgary in 1988, the host country failed to win a single, solitary gold medal from any of the events.

It is not every day when a committee is drafted to take a comprehensive look at a province’s health-care system. It is also not every day when someone at a local level is in on the ground floor of such a debate. However, that was just the case when Municipal District of Taber Coun. Don Johnson was part of the Minister’s Advisory Committee on Health, which released its report last month.
