Taber Emergency Services responded to a report of a person injured as the result of an explosion at an oil truck servicing facility at 2:45 p.m. on Monday. The explosion occurred within a bay in the building, where a tank truck was located. A man was transported with undetermined injuries to the local hospital and flown out of town by STARS. The cause of the incident is under investigation by Occupational Health and Safety. The building where the explosion occurred suffered minor damages, and evacuation of the area was not deemed necessary. However, interim fire chief Mike Bos said the shop was evacuated as a precaution. He added it was a flash explosion and when emergency services arrived, the situation was under control, as the building did not catch fire. Bos said the cause of the explosion has not been determined, as emergency services is awaiting the results of the Occupational Health and Safety investigation. |
