Reader grateful for help from youth

Posted on February 5, 2014 by Taber Times

I had a very nice thing happen to me. I was just preparing to shovel the driveway and sidewalks, when two young men appeared, removing the snow from the sidewalk along the side and front of my house.

They moved into the area of my driveway and said that they would like to clear it too, if it would be OK with me. This was completed in about 10 minutes. I thanked them and offered to pay for their time. They said “no, that it was their pleasure!”

They also informed me that they were from the Taber Christian School. I live one block south of the school. After they left, I noticed that they had cleared both sides of the street. What a pleasure it is to know that we have such fine people in out community. Thank you so much!

While we are on the subject of clearing the sidewalks, why does no one clear the snow on 50th Street alongside St. Mary’s school between 56th and 54th Avenue? It was not done once this year!! Lots of people slipping and sliding every time we had snow, who are sometimes forced to walk on the road. REALLY SAFE EH?
