Heads up citizens

Posted on July 16, 2014 by Taber Times

Are you aware that Taber has a Communities in Bloom Society? This is a Canadian organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation and the challenge of national competition. Our Taber society is made up mainly of women, but once in a while we conscript our husbands and family members to help us.

Taber is such a beautiful place for all of us to live. It is naturally a vibrant and prosperous area with all of the different field crops, oil well activity, cattle and ranch land. So it only makes sense that we try to make the downtown and living area as beautiful as possible.

There are definite benefits to having this society in our town. To name a few: increased real estate values; increased tourism; sense of community and civic pride through public participation; recognition of heritage resources; increased appreciation for landscape resources; increased environmental awareness; educational value for our area’s children.

The Taber society of Communities in Bloom will be hosting all of the Alberta Communities in Bloom societies in mid-September.

We want to make you aware of the big responsibility we have, and we’re counting on our citizens to help us spruce up our town and put our prettiest flower planters out front for everyone to see. Let’s show the rest of Alberta what a wonderful place this is. Our motto: “If you see a weed, pull it, if you see trash, stash it.”
