At Taber town council, Coun. Mark Garner brought up the issue of the lack of lighting around the golf course during the council requests section of the meeting that took place on Oct. 13.

“I’ve talked to several people recently that have a concern on the walking path around the golf course, how dark it is especially with diminishing sunlight in the winter,” Garner said.

“I’ve driven down there, walked a little the past week and it is pitch black.”

After which Garner made a motion to ask administration to look into the feasibility and cost of setting up lights to illuminate the west side and the south side of the golf course walking path.

At this proposal Coun. Joe Strojwas brought up how the Kiwanis Club had already made a proposal to put lights along that walking path.

“The Kiwanis Club had a proposal to put some lighting along there and because of COVID that whole proposal has kind of gotten sidelined. So in that motion could administration also contact Kiwanis Club just to see where their proposal is to be included in that discussion process.”

Strojwas’s statement was added on as a friendly amendment to the initial proposal that Garner made.

After a little bit more discussion amongst the council Garner’s motion with Strojwas amendment passed unanimously.
