Town council will be one man short for the crest of the current election term. At Monday night’s meeting, council accepted the resignation of Coun. Abe Andres, who submitted a letter of resignation dated Aug. 2. “Due to circumstances in my life, the changes in my position which I accepted from my present employer, I am finding myself unable to continue,” Andres said in the letter. “I have been unable to attend council meetings. It seems that every time there is a meeting, I’m either at meetings in Calgary or something else comes up that requires my attention.” With the council seat of Andres now open for the Oct. 18 election, councillors were asked at the end of the meeting as to their intentions for the 2010 municipal election. Couns. John Papp, Louie Tams, Garth Bekkering and Murray Rochelle all announced they were running for re-election. Mayor Ray Bryant previously announced he was again running for mayor. Coun. Terry Sargeant said he was still undecided. |
