‘AAA’ hockey featured in Taber

The Val Matteotti Bantam ‘AAA’ Golden Hawks will be playing a first-ever exhibition game this week in Taber.  

This match-up will see Calgary’s private academy the “Edge” roll in from Cow-Town. It proves to be a real match-up as both teams are on a roll. The Golden Hawks select kids from southern Alberta and are proud to boast Taber and the surrounding areas talented young hockey youth.

Local hometown players include goalie Broc Merkl, forward Riese Nevil, and defensemen Clay Nevil and Justin Astalos.  

Jayden Bexte and Brandyn Howg round out the roster and are power forwards from the Vauxhall-Enchant area.  

Head coach Garth Johnson in his second year of the elite program, noted on the athletic ability and mental toughness these local kids bring to the program.  

Lethbridge Minor Hockey Elite thanks past, present and future players for making the dedication to programs like this and invite you out to watch the stars of the future.  

The puck drops on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Taber arena.
