The following are selected briefs of the Sept. 10 meeting of the Taber Recreation Board.
2017 Alberta 55 Plus Games Bid Request: The board voted unanimously (6-0) to recommend town council decline a request for Taber to host the 2017 Alberta 55 Plus Games.
2018 Alberta Summer Games Bid Request: The board voted unanimously (6-0) to recommend town council decline a request for Taber to host the 2018 Alberta Summer Games.
2016 and 2017 Southern Alberta Summer Games Bid Requests :The board voted unanimously (6-0) to recommend town council decline a request for Taber to host the 2016 or 2017 Southern Alberta Summer Games.
Confederation Park Playground: The Town of Taber partnered with the Kiwanis Club on a CFEP lottery grant, which was received earlier this year and equipment was ordered. The old structure will be removed during September and a new structure installed on Oct. 24, weather permitting.
Performance Recognitions: The board voted unanimously (6-0) to issue recognition awards for the following teams and individuals:
Kaleb Muller, Bronze, 2015 mountain biking provincials: Darci Wright, Silver, 2015 ASSA Provincials, 11-12 girls 50m fly: Renae Saunders, Bronze, 2015 ASSA Provincials, 13-14 girls 100m fly: Taber U16 Girls Soccer, Bronze, 2015 Tier IV Cities Soccer Provincials:Taber U12 Boys Soccer, Gold, 2015 Tier IV Cities Soccer Provincials: Norcrest, Gold, 2015 Major AA Prairie Little League Championships.
