Taber novice Oil Kings earned an 11-8 victory over Coaldale Cobras in minor hockey play as the regular season kicks off.

Konnor Wiebe and Chase Stronge led the way with four goals apiece. Nixen Miller had two goals and Roman Capner recorded a single. Two of Stronge’s goals were scored shorthanded. Lincoln Weiss recorded two assists.

ATOM: Taber atom ‘B’ Oil Kings played two games on the weekend, winning both.

In a win against Picture Butte Blades on Saturday, scorers were Tage Jensen with four goals and an assist and Damian Beswick had the hat trick to go with two assists.

Kayden Kress netted five goals and recorded an assist. Weiler Krahn had two goals and Tyson Church had a single goal. Zachary Fehr and Tristan Egeland each had a goal and an assist. Blake Rabusic and Jaxson Coutts each had assists. Shayle DeBona earned the win in net.

Sunday’s slate featured a win over Lethbridge where Fehr and Beswick both had hat tricks. Jensen filled the scoresheet with five goals and two assists.

Coutts had a hat trick and one assist. Egeland and Krahn each had one goal. Tanner Fletcher had a goal. Church recorded three assists and Kress had one assist.

INITIATION: In a battle of local initiation teams, Taber initiation 2 Oil Kings were victorious over Taber initiation 1 Oil Kings 14-8 on Saturday at the Taber Arena small ice.

Leading the way for initiation 2 Oil Kings was Lincoln Wiebe with three goals and five assists. Julian Woordman, Mikaelah Clingman and Jenner Workman had hat tricks. Jackson Jones scored twice.

Replying for initiation 1 Oil Kings were Madix Miller and Nathan Gensorek with hat tricks. Burke Hyland and Delphin Deboer had singles.
