Taberites part of Sting operation

Posted on May 29, 2019 by Taber Times

Four locals helped the Southern Alberta Lacrosse Association Bantam Sting team have a successful May long weekend in Red Deer, taking home the bronze medal in the annual Tradition Lives Tournament.

The Sting team is a travel team comprised of the best players in the Southern Alberta Lacrosse Association.

It gives peewee and bantam players throughout the league a chance to play elite level ‘A’ lacrosse.

This year’s bantam team consists of nine players from Lethbridge, five players from Medicine Hat, one player from Brooks, and four players from Taber. The four Taber players were Brock Higa, Hunter Damberger, Evan Koizumi and Evan Rabusic.

The Sting will also compete in the annual Canada Day Lacrosse Tournament in Calgary featuring teams from all over North America and Europe.

This year’s Bantam Sting team also had the special privilege of playing an exhibition game against the Calgary Axemen on the Saddledome floor prior to the Roughneck’s last regular-season game.

More information about the SALA Sting program can be found on the Southern Alberta Lacrosse Association website (www.southernalbertalacrosse.com).
