Taber Minor Hockey back in action

After a delayed start to the usual hockey season, several Taber Minor Hockey teams were in action this past weekend as part of Central Alberta Hockey League’s tiering season.

U9

Both Taber Grey and Taber black U9 teams have hit the ice to start their seasons.

No game sheets have been posted to their CAHL team sites.

U11

Three Taber teams are competing in U11 CAHL leagues this year.

The Tier 2 team won their first game of the season earlier this month and continued their winning ways this past weekend with consecutive wins against Brooks.

The first was an 8-3 win which saw points from Nathan Gensorek (one goal), Delphin Deboer (three goals, one assist), Ryder Nielsen (one goal, two assists), Hayden Eldridge (one goal), Lincoln Wiebe (two goals, two assists) and Kellon Schalk (one assist).

Ashton Jensen faced 33 shots in the win.

The team would continue their dominance in the second of the back to back as they walked away with an 11-4 win.
Gensorek had three goals, Madix Miller added a goal and three assists, Ethan Volk with two assists, Burke Hyland had one goal, two assists, Wiebe chipped in with three goals, two assists, Deboer had two goals, one assist and Eldridge tallied one goal.

Jensen once again manned the blue paint, facing 21 shots.

In Tier 4 action, Taber Yellow saw their record drop to 1-2.

In their first game, the team struggled as they were handed a 20-6 loss against Raymond.

Austin Odland and Cole Bouchard each tallied a goal, Jhett Stober scored three goals, Julian Woordman chipped in with a goal while Mikaelah Clingman and Aiden Pierzchala found the scoresheet with one assist each.

Brodyn Sutka was in net for the loss.

While the team faced a drubbing in their first game of the weekend, they showed they’re a resilient group with a bounce-back 10-9 win against Vulcan.

Bouchard had a big game with two goals and three assists, Pierzchala had a goal, Stober scored a goal and had three assists, Odland had a goal with an assist and Woordman put the team on his back scoring five goals and tallied an assist.

Garyn McMorris faced 31 shots.

Taber Orange had a rough weekend losing 13-3 to Magrath in their opening game of the weekend.

Jaxson Badura found the back of the net once while Emmett Ruggles scored two.

Kash Kover and Aidyn Derksen Arnel each chipped in with an assist.

Jack Lukacs faced 42 shots in net.

The second was also another loss for the team as they dropped a 10-2 loss against Claresholm Ruggles found the back of the net twice and Theoren Bolig had an assist.

Lukacs was strong again between the pipes as he faced 44 shots.

U13

The Taber tier 4 team was in tough this past weekend as they dropped their only game 7-2 against Duchess.

Carter Kerkhoff potted two goals while Lincoln Weiss chipped in an assist.

Avery Remfert was busy in the crease as he faced 50 shots.

U15

The Taber U15 lost two close games earlier this month and were off this past weekend.

U18

The tier 2 Taber team won a close game over Medicine Hat this weekend as they walked away with a 4-2 win.

Peyton Poncelet had himself a game as he tallied three goals with the other coming from Byron Kress.

Gideon Tams also had one assist.

Wade Ypma faced 31 shots in the win.

The tier 4 Taber team has got off to a slow start losing their first two games earlier this month.
