Taber Minor Hockey teams return to the ice for 2021-22 season

Central Alberta Hockey League Tiering round has begun and Taber teams hit the ice this past weekend for several games.

U11

The U11 Tier 4 Oil Kings had a pair of games this past weekend that saw the team go undefeated.

On Saturday, they were at home to Vauxhall and skated to a 15-11 win.

Ryder Nielsen had six goals, Hayden Eldridge had five goals, Kash Kover, Seth Jespersen, Dallin Krahn-Langhover, and Wyatt Valgardson each had one goal.

The offence continued to roll in the second game of the weekend as the Oil Kings put a 10-2 win on the board over Brooks.

Eldridge had three goals, Nielsen had two goals, while Cole Swanson, Baron Stang, Kover, and Valgardson had single tallies. Brodyn Sutka got the start in both games.

The Tier 5 U11 Oil Kings also got into a pair of games over the weekend.

In their first game, they hit the road and they saw a 31-3 defeat at the hands of Cardston. Logan Rabusic, Jaxson Tychsen, and Ryden Baker scored the Oil Kings’ goals. Baker also had an assist.

The team would bounce back on Sunday though as they were able to muster up a 14-4 win over Coaldale. Blake Untereiner, Lincoln Braun and Tychsen each had hat tricks, Mitchell Kimoto, and Rabusic had two tallies each, and Lennon Over had a single to round out the scoring. ychsen, Luca Nielsen, Untereiner, Thoren Bolig, Barrett DeVlieger, Baker, Kover, Nielsen and Kimoto all found the scoresheet with assists. Aidyn Derksen Arnel was in net for both games.

U13

The U13 Oil Kings saw a pair of games this weekend including an 8-7 win over Picture Butte at home on Saturday.

Lincoln Wiebe and Delphin DeBoer had two goals each, while Blaise Odland, Jenner Workman, Jaxon Badura, and Ethan Volk had the other goals.

Volk also had a pair of assists, while Workman, Julian Woordman, Kellon Schalk, Odland, Raiden Koizumi, and Miles Goertzen had one assist each. Both Jack Lukacs and Ashton Jensen got into the game.

The team took on Bow Island/Foremost in the second game of the weekend, but the game sheet wasn’t available.

U15

With a home and away game for the U15 Oil Kings this past weekend, the team was able to collect a pair of wins to start their season.

On Saturday, the team welcomed Lethbridge White into Taber which resulted in a 14-2 win for the Oil Kings. Samuel Tolsma had five goals, Landon McEwen had three goals, Konnor Wiebe had two goals, while Wyler Krahn-Langhofer, Blake Rabusic, Tyler Kiss, and Tate Nakashima had singles. Ryan Gray had three assists, Nakashima and McEwen had two assists, and Rabusic, Tanner Fletcher, Lincoln Weiss, Kylan Odland, Wiebe, and Kiss had single assists. Goaltender Ty Dorin faced 35 shots in the win.

In their final game of the weekend, Taber would win a close 5-4 battle against Redcliff. McEwen and Tolsma potted a pair of goals while Wiebe had the other. Nathan Rijkens and Wiebe had the lone assists. Avery Remfert faced 47 shots in the win.

U18

The U18 Oil Kings had a lone game on the schedule when they visited Bow Island/Foremost. Results and the game sheet were not posted prior to publication.
