It will be memories that last a lifetime for local bobsleder Clay Sparks.
The Taberite competed in the Junior Winter Olympics in Austria late last month representing Canada and finished in eighth with his combined time with his driver in boy’s bobsled at 1:50.54.
“The competition was pretty tight. Between where we were and first place, it wasn’t much of a difference,” said Sparks.
Italy would end up in first with a time of 1:49.14 in its gold-medal runs, host Austria would take silver at 1:49.23 and Monaco would take the bronze at 1:49.31.

U12 soccer will be split into boys and girls teams PDF Print E-mail

In an attempt to keep more girls in soccer at older age levels, the Taber and District Soccer Association will be doing an experiment for the upcoming 2012 season.
The association will be making the U12 category gender specific, dividing it into girls and boys teams.

Mother Nature conspired against the Taber Fish and Game Association with its annual Measuring Day this past weekend, as overall entries were way down.
“We only had around 80 entries this year, where in the past we were close to double, due to the fact there were less deer in Alberta from too severe winters,” said Dave Chontosh, vice president/treasurer of Taber Fish and Game Association.

Taber peewee Warriors skated to a dominating 11-0 shutout of the Hanna Colts at the Taber arena on Sunday.
Max Laackmann and Ryan Mankow both potted hat tricks. Daylan Jensen had two goals and Eric Brewin, Mitchell Young and Ryland Rombough had singles.

W.R. Myers Rebels varsity boys basketball team is undefeated no more in Southern Alberta High School Boys Basketball League competition, as the squad took a tough-pill-to-swallow 70-63 loss to a rebuilding Magrath Zeniths team on the road last Thursday.
