Taber atom Tier I Oil Kings went to a tournament in Moose Jaw over the weekend and won the championship title.
The Oil Kings pitched the shutout in all the games it played with wins over the Weyburn Blues (15-0), Saskatoon Bulldog Flyers (16-0), Moose Jaw Red Devils (9-0), Moose Jaw Black Venom (9-0) and North Battleford (6-0) in the final. Brayden Peters recorded all five shutouts in net for the Oil Kings on the weekend. In other atom hockey action, Taber atom ‘A’ Oil Kings dropped two games in Spud League competition. The first was an 11-5 decision to Foremost at home on Saturday. Nathan Verloop tallied twice and Brady Silver, Carter Hendricks and Brylan Span had singles. Nathan and Josh Verloop both had assists. The team followed up with a 10-8 loss to Pincher Creek. Josh Verloop had the hat trick and Kasen Lyczewski had two goals. Silver, Hendricks and Carson Komery had singles. Hendricks also had four assists with Komery, Nathan Verloop, Cassidy Phillips and Connor Tams drawing two assists apiece. INITIATION: Taber initiation Oil Kings 1 earned a 17-3 win over Raymond on Saturday. Scoring for the Oil Kings were Kade Duell, Evan Koizumi and Hayden Span all with hat tricks. Vance Kramer, Carson Love, Nathan Planger and Jaxson Coutts each had two goals apiece. Duell also drew two assists and Jordan Genert had one assist. PEEWEE: Taber peewee ‘A’, Tier II Oil Kings split its pair of games over the weekend. The first hockey game was a 6-3 doubling of Okotoks at the Taber arena on Saturday. Dallas Bodnar, Evan Harkness, Ryan Hubble, Spencer Phillips, Cal Kinniburgh and Brady Howg all had singles. Seth McCulloch and Hayden Mack each drew two assists apiece with Kole Fujita, Howg, Bodnar, and Harkness drawing single helpers. Peewee Oil Kings followed up with a 7-1 loss at the hands of Cochrane Rockies at the Taber arena on Sunday. Mack scored the lone tally for Taber. |
