The Vipers have been bustling with activity of late as the swim club prepares for regionals in Lethbridge this weekend.
Having concluded its last regular-season meet in Fort Macleod in late July, members had many top finishes. Shea Garner clocked in at 35.40 seconds to finish third for six-and-under girls 25-metre freestyle. Torrance Gedny was third for eight-and-under girls 25-metre freestyle at 22.19 seconds. She also earned a second for 50-metre freestyle at 52.14 seconds and a first in 50-metre backstroke at 59.63 seconds. Gedny also clocked first for her time of 1:03.99 for 50-metre breaststroke. Chance Cook earned a first-place finish for eight-and-under boys 25-metre freestyle with a time of 19.26 seconds and was also first for 50-metre freestyle at 42.47. His time of 24.13 seconds was good enough for first place in 25-metre backstroke and he finished in second for 100-metre IM at 2:07.18. Kelsey Garner had a third-place time of 43.51 seconds for nine and 10-year-old girls 50-metre freestyle and took a second for 200-metre freestyle with a time of 3:38.27. Her other top finishes included third for 25-metre fly at 20.54 seconds and first for 50-metre fly at 55.19. Alex Senneker was timed at 25.82 seconds for 15-and-over boys 50-metre freestyle, good enough for second. He was also second for 100-metre freestyle at 57.35 seconds and had a first-place finish for 50-metre fly at 28.94. He was also first for 100-metre fly with a time of 1:09.19. Samantha Kondor finished third for 15-and-over girls 200-metre freestyle with a time of 2:54.98 and was second in her 100-metre breaststroke at 1:35.73. She also clocked in for second in 200-metre IM with a time of 3:14.61 while teammate Cassandra Collett was third at 3:18.33. Adrienne Harris had a time of 7:13.86 for third in 12-and-under girls 400-metre freestyle. Carrie Ross placed first for 15-and-over girls 400-metre freestyle with a time of 6:48.49. Ross also earned first for 800-metre freestyle at 14:07.40. Dylan Saunders clocked in at 36.93 seconds for six-and-under boys 25-metre backstroke, good enough for second place. He also took third place for 25-metre breaststroke at 57.89 seconds and was third in flutterboard at 42.19 seconds. Robin Cook placed third for 13 and 14-year-old girls 50-metre backstroke at 42.97 seconds and took third for 200-metre IM with a time of 3:15.03. Eilidh Ward earned third for 13 and 14-year-old girls 100-metre breaststroke, timing in at 1:38.64. Angelique Christakos was third with a time of 1:33.47 for 15-and-over girls 100-metre fly at 1:33.47. After its last regular-season meet and in-between training for regionals, the Vipers had a Terry Fox Swim-a-Thon in honour of a club member last week, 10-year-old Brynn Lund who has undergone chemotherapy treatments. |
