I attended the APEX banquet (last Wednesday) night, as I have many times in the past, and I continue to feel that this event is one of the best programs in our region.

It promotes the value of civic involvement and embodies what is right about our communities. We are all lucky to continue to have young people in our midst that want to make a difference in their communities. I am proud, and humbled, to see, read and hear of the contributions made by past and present nominees. My thanks.

It is easy to point a finger and attribute blame for what is wrong about our society but it takes a special group of people to look for the good things that exist and to champion them. To Coleen Campbell, thank you for your vision, and your doggedness to ensure this program continues from year to year. To all who offer their time and talents, keep up the excellent work. Without you, this event would not happen. And, to those that support this event financially, thank you for continuing to see that the youth in our communities are recognized for just being good people. Your investment will reap many rewards.
