RCMP lay charge in homicide investigation

RCMP have confirmed that 38-year-old Stacey Charles Wahpistikwan of Big Island Cree Territory, Alberta has been charged with second degree murder and indignity to a body in the death of 36-year-old Silas Lorne Kiseyinewakup.

On the morning of Sept. 22, police discovered the body of Silas Kiseyinewakup adjacent to a working farm where he was employed. Police were responding to a complaint of a disturbance and a missing person at a rural residence north of Taber when they made the discovery.

An autopsy was completed at the Calgary office of medical examiner on Sept. 24, the results of which are pending toxicology. 

Stacey Wahpistikwan and the deceased knew one another. Wahpistikwan appeared in provincial court in Lethbridge on Sept. 25 via CCTV.
