Taber Viper Swim Club venomous in SASG action

Posted on July 11, 2013 by Taber Times

The Taber Viper Swim Club competed in the 2013 Southern Alberta Summer Games (SASG) held in Taber from July 3-6, with the team making a good showing in the medal standings.

“We did really good,” said head coach Kaitlyn Kachmarski. “We had a huge attendence, about 50 swimmers from our club, and we collected a ton of medals and top-three finishes.”

A least one member of the team merited special mention in Kachmarski’s estimation.

“One person I could mention is Darci Wright. She collected six gold medals.”

“She’s nine years old, competing in the 9-10 age group, so she was competing against kids older than her, too.”

The club performed well in SASG action over the week, according to Kachmarski.

“I think we did really well, showing up at our home swim meet we called it. I think we did our best, and I think it showed. Coaches were really impressed, and proud.”

The Vipers have swim meets upcoming for the next three weekends, outside of Taber.

“We have a swim meet this weekend in Nanton.”

“After that we have two more swim meets, one in Fort Macleod and one in the Crowsnest Pass,” said Kachmarski.
