Taber Figure Skating Club presents ‘Broadway on Ice’ this Saturday at the Taber Arena starting at 2 p.m.
Spectators can expect performances from children as young as three to as old as 18 exploring such classics as “Annie,” “Cats” and “Grease.”
“It’s an all year thing where they practice for the carnival, but they start to go really gung-ho for it starting in January,” said Sheila Martens, carnival chair for Broadway on Ice, adding costumes are quite elaborate in their showmanship to aid the various musical performances.
“It’s a showcase for the kids to showcase their skills where parents or grandparents may not be able to attend other practices. It’s the things kids have learned over the year.”
There will be girl and boys skaters alike featured at the carnival. A highlight among the boys will be a “Phantom of the Opera” piece.
Spectators will be dazzled by guest skaters who have Disney-on-Ice experience.
Cost to attend the skating carnival Broadway on Ice on Saturday is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, and $2 for kids.
Children under 5 get in free.
A raffle table will feature various prizes, including tickets being sold for an i-Pad to go with 50-50 tickets.
“It’s something different for the kids where they like to dress up and perform,” said Martens.
“It’s a nice way to watch people skate.”
