Taber Golden Suns programs have tough weekend in SCAHL competition

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns had a tough weekend of South Central Alberta Hockey League play, dropping both of its road contests.

The first was on Friday in a 6-3 doubling at the hands of the Sylvan Lake Lakers.

All three of the Suns goals were on special teams (two shorthanded, one power play) as Austyn Moser tallied twice and Jedd Horvath once. Ryan Tessemaker, Logan Wiebe and Logan Middleton drew assists. Dylan Swanson faced 36 shots on net in the loss.

The team then suffered an 8-1 loss at the hands of the Red Deer Elks on Sunday.

Moser scored the lone Suns tally with assists from Dylan Heppler and Clay Nevil.

Broc Merkl was pelted with 52 shots on net in the loss.

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns host Medicine Hat Venom this Friday night at the Taber Arena at 8:30 p.m. before hitting the road on Sunday with a game against Wheatland Chiefs.

BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns got stung twice by the Cranbrook Hornets on the road this past weekend in South Central Alberta Hockey League play.

The first time was an 8-1 loss on Saturday. Kolten Heins scored the lone Suns tally.
Carson Adams faced 31 shots on net in the loss.

Sunday’s tilt was a 7-2 loss. Mason Sande scored both tallies for the Suns with assists from William Wallace and Haysyn Ostrup. Dalton Demers faced 40 shots on net in the loss.

Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns hit the road this weekend with a game on Friday against Lacombe Rockets and then road contests in Red Deer on Saturday and Sunday against Red Deer Ramada and Red Deer Steel Kings respectively.

PEEWEE: Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns host Foothills Bisons on Sunday at the Taber Arena at 1 p.m.
