December Taber Recreation Board briefs

Posted on December 16, 2015 by Taber Times

The following are selected briefs from the Taber Recreation Board on Dec. 3:

January Meeting

At this time, with no agenda items for the January meeting date, and with the onset of the holidays generally having no items arise, the motion was passed to cancel the Jan. 7 recreation board meeting.

Should any items arise, then a meeting may be scheduled based on availability of the majority of board members.
Arena Dressing Room Update

The project is progressing on schedule with interior work now occurring. Flooring and doors were installed last week.
“That Dec. 16 deadline is definitely achievable, in fact we (had) a tentative walk through date of Dec. 13,” said Aline Holmen, director of recreation for the Town of Taber.

“Every day we are getting closer and closer and closer. It will be exciting when it’s all done.”

Recreation Management Software

Submissions are being reviewed as to which vendors the town will wish to pursue presentations from for its recreation management software.

“We have narrowed it down to three components that we are considering and we are having presentations done,” said Holmen. “”We are hoping to come to council with our recommendation in January. Hopefully, everything will be up and running in February to get this ball rolling to let the public know we will be having online registration soon.”

Swim Lesson Registration

Swim lesson registration will be going on from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on Dec. 19 in the Taber Community Centre Auditorium.

“We will open the doors at 7 a.m. in which we will have a press release go out where people can go grab a ticket and leave and go home if they like, then start the registrations at 9 a.m.,” said Holmen.

“You have to be present when your number is called. We will have coffee on and people can stand in a warm environment and don’t have to stand outside. We will strongly encourage people do not come at two in the morning. We have added some extra classes than before.”
