Midget “AA” Golden Suns fall in SCAHL contests

Peewee “AA” Golden Suns (18-3-2) continued to pile up the points in the South Central Alberta Hockey League standings, going 1-0-2.

Friday’s road tilt was a 5-1 win over Medicine Hat Orange (11-8-0).

Cage Smith and Colby Gulliver both had two goals apiece and Kayden Yeaman had a single. Yeaman also had two assists. Brylin Noble had a quiet day in net, stopping 15 of 16 shots for the win in goal.

The team returned home to the Taber Arena on Saturday afternoon and skated to a 5-5 draw with Red Deer Parkland (11-7-2).

Smith and Gulliver each scored two goals apiece again, with Jarret McNeill adding a single. Yeaman and Braxton Hanna had two assists apiece. Cason Van Hal and Noble faced a combined 17 shots with some goaltending struggles.

Peewee Suns finished off with a 2-2 draw against Wheatland Braves (15-3-1) on Sunday afternoon at home, earning the tie with two unanswered goals in the third period. Smith and Yeaman scored for the Suns. Jager Gugyelka assisted on both goals.

Noble earned the tie, facing 18 shots on goal.

Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns are on the road on Saturday against Wheatland Braves.

MIDGET: Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns (9-12-1) lost both of its games on the weekend in SCAHL play.

The first was a 6-3 doubling at the hands of CBHA Rangers (5-2-1) at the Taber Arena on Saturday night.

Cody Stange, Rylan Millo and Carter DeBoer scored for the Suns. Blake Vaselenak faced 30 shots on goal in the loss.

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns followed up with a 3-2 loss to Lethbridge Hurricanes (7-10-3) at the Taber Arena on Sunday.

Zach Young and DeBoer scored for the Suns.

Aidan Low faced 29 shots on goal in the loss.
