Forum format needs re-tooling

Posted on October 16, 2013 by Taber Times

I attended the all-candidates forum last Wednesday night at the Heritage Inn, and noticed that it was not as well attended as the one three years ago.

In a word — it was boring.

Perhaps it would be possible to change the format for the next forum, something a little more informal, and not so rigid.

Perhaps each candidate could have his/her own table. Handouts with their ideas an qualifications might be a good idea. There is lots of space and it would give people a chance to talk to each candidate on a one-on-one basis.

A “come and go” atmosphere rather than just sitting listening might encourage more people to attend and we could get to know the candidates a little better before we make our decision on election day.
