Be it an individual athlete, team or builder of a sport who has stood out in their respective field, there are those out there that need to be recognized.
“The Taber and Vauxhall areas are ripe with people who have a made a difference in their athletic field be it decades of making a difference in childrens’ lives or climbing the mountain of the highest peaks of accomplishments as an individual player or part of a team,” said Debbie Sargeant, president of the Taber and District Sport Hall of Fame Committee. “But, we can’t nominate the people ourselves, the nominations have to come from people in the community.”
The committee has issued its nomination packages with the necessary criteria needed for a valid nomination and they are available at the Town of Taber and Town of Vauxhall offices.
The committee has showcased a mobile Hall of Fame display in the past in both Taber and Vauxhall in various areas with a permanent display at the Town of Taber office for those who want to get a gauge of past inductees.
“It is a celebration of people who have helped shape sports and recreation in southern Alberta,” said Sargeant.
Deadline for submissions is Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. at the respective town office for Taber or Vauxhall.
