Midget Oil Kings earn ‘W’ on weekend

Taber midget Oil Kings were able to upend Lethbridge 6-4 in minor hockey play on the weekend.

Logan Wiebe had two goals in the win with Dylan Jones, Spencer Phillips, Gavin Hoskins and Clay Leismeister with singles. Drawing assists were Leismeister, Wiebe, Jones, Dallas Bodnar, Ryan Mankow and Matthew Kerkhoff.

NOVICE: Taber novice Oil Kings split its pair of minor hockey games over the weekend, starting off with a 16-8 loss to Coaldale.

Konnor Wiebe had the hat trick and Nixen Miller and Ayden Umbach each had two goals apiece. Cruz Duell scored a single.

The team bounced back with an 11-4 win over Duchess.

Umbach and Chase Stronge had four goals each in the win. Wiebe, Miller and Duell scored singles.

INITIATION: Taber initiation 3 Oil Kings defeated initiation 1 Oil Kings 18-9 on Saturday on the Taber Arena small ice.

Dane Degraw, Ethan Volk, Nate Kramer, Emmett Ruggles, and Kellon Schalk all had hat tricks. Griffin Olfert had two tallies and Ryder Nielsen had a single.

Responding for initiation 1 Oil Kings were Burke Hyland and Madix Miller with hat tricks. Delphin DeBoer scored twice.

Taber initiation 2 Oil Kings recorded a 13-7 win over Picture Butte Blades on the road on Friday.

Lincoln Wiebe, Mikaelah Clingman and Jackson Jones each had tricks.

Jenner Workman had two tallies and Dallin Langhofer and Seth Jespersen had singles.
